On Friday, October 28th, seven students from Tri-C visited the CWRU Campus for the Cleveland Humanities Collaborative’s Fall Campus Day. The students’ intended majors include History, Philosophy and Ethics, English, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Japanese Studies.

Marguerite McClain, Assistant Director of CWRU Admissions, and Allison Morgan, the CHC Program Manager, talked to the students about the university’s admissions process and focused specifically on issues that were of interest to transfer students, including campus activities, credit transferability, and financial aid.

The students went on a tour of the campus led by several current CWRU students, and had the chance to see the inner workings of CWRU’s main library, the Tinkham Veale University Center, and the “Humanities Quad” on the north side of campus. The tour ended back at the Tinkham Veale University Center, where the visiting students ate lunch with current CHC Scholars who had transferred to CWRU from Tri-C this past summer and other humanities students.

The visitors finished their day by meeting with humanities faculty from each CWRU department. Each faculty member spoke about the different majors and opportunities offered by their programs, and invited the students to ask questions, or to come back and sit in on a class. Students had a chance to speak to faculty members one-on-one, and to exchange contact information for future questions.
