Guistwhite Scholarship Program
Scholarship application period: September to December
Scholarship award: Up to $5,000
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be active members of Phi Theta Kappa
- Students need to have a minimum of 45 college-level credits by December 31, and 53 college-level credits by the time they matriculate to their 4-year institution
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
Hites Transfer Scholarship
Scholarship application period: September to December
Scholarship award: $7,500
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be active members of Phi Theta Kappa
- Students must intend to transfer to an accredited four-year college for the coming fall
- Students must have completed a minimum of 50 college-level credits at the time of transfer
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
External Scholarships
Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship
Scholarship application period: October to December
Scholarship award: Up to $40,000 per year
Eligibility requirements:
- Be a current student at an accredited U.S. community college with sophomore status by December 31.
- Plan to enroll full-time in a bachelor’s program at an accredited college in the coming fall
- Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
- Demonstrate significant unmet financial need
- Have not previously enrolled at or attended at four-year institution
Hispanic Scholarship Fund – General College Scholarships
Scholarship Deadline: Late March
Scholarship award: $500-$5,000
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be of Hispanic heritage
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA for Community College transfer students
- Applicants must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, not-for-profit, 4-year university during the Fall of the scholarship application year
- Applicants must be US Citizens, Permanent Legal Residents, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
- Applicants must complete the FAFSA or state-based financial aid application
College Now Adult Learner Program Scholarship
College Now provides scholarship opportunities to adult students age 19 and above who have interrupted their education for one year or more and who are pursuing a non-degree certificate or license in a vocational or technical program, an associate’s degree or first bachelor’s degree.
Scholarship deadline: Typically mid-April
Scholarship award: Average award is $1,500; can be renewed for up to five years or ten (10) semesters
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be age 19 or older as of the year of application. Must have graduated from high school or successfully earned their G.E.D.
- Must have interrupted their education for at least one year since high school graduation or during college
- Must qualify for the Federal Pell Grant
- Must be a resident of Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit or Trumbull County
- Must be pursuing a first associate’s degree or first bachelor’s degree at a public or private not-for-profit college or university
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
Scholarships for Women
Jeannette Rankin Fund Women’s Scholarship
Scholarship deadline: Typically mid-March
Scholarship award: $2,000
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a woman, age 35 or older
- Must qualify as low-income (see income guidelines here)
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S.
- Pursuing a first bachelor’s degree
- Enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited school
Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Scholarship
Scholarship deadline: Late July/Early August
Scholarship award: Up to $5,000
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a woman, at least 17 years of age
- Must qualify as low-income
- Must be a mother with minor children
- Must be pursuing a first bachelor’s degree
- Enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited school
Soroptimist Live Your Dream Scholarship
Scholarship application period: Check scholarship website
Scholarship award: $3,000 to $5,000
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a woman who provides the primary financialsupport for yourself and your dependents. Dependents can include children, spouse, partner, siblings and/or parents
- Has financial need
- Is enrolled in or has been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program
- Is motivated to achieve your education and career goals
- Has not previously been the recipient of a Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity or Live Your Dream Award
- Is not a Soroptimist member
- Has a Social Security number or Tax ID number
Junior League of Cleveland (JLC) Scholarship
The JLC provides scholarship support for non-traditional women students ages 17 and older, seeking the opportunity to gain further education and/or career training. Awards can be used for tuition, transportation costs, supplies, childcare, etc.
Scholarship deadline: Early March
Scholarship award: Up to $5,000
Eligibility requirements:
- Applicant must be a woman at least 17 years old
- Applicant must be a non-traditional student, a woman not going directly to a four-year college immediately after high school graduation
- Applicant’s permanent address must be in one of these Ohio counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, or Trumbull
Alzada Singleton Davis Scholarship
To provide scholarship support for an African-American female sophomore at Cuyahoga Community College’s Metropolitan Campus who has demonstrated academic excellence in the humanities and is matriculating to an upper-division college or university. Selection decisions are based on academic excellence in the humanities. Renewable for one additional year.
Scholarship awards: $1,000 to $2,000

The Cleveland Foundation Scholarship Gateway and Common Application
The following scholarships can all be found in the Cleveland Foundation’s Scholarship Portal and require one Common Application. There are additional scholarships in their list for students from area high schools as well – check and see if your school is listed!
ALCOA Fund Scholarship
Scholarship deadline: Typically mid-March
Scholarship award: $2,000 to $5,000
Eligibility requirements:
- African-American or Hispanic student who is a graduate of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) or a Catholic school in Greater Cleveland
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Enrolled or currently attending a two- or four-year accredited educational institution within the state of Ohio
- Demonstrate financial need
Charlotte Alexander Scholarship
Scholarship deadline: Typically mid-March
Scholarship award: $1,500
Eligibility requirements:
- Resident of Cleveland or its inner-ring suburbs
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
- High school senior or adult (up to age 28) pursuing an undergraduate degree on a full-time basis
- Demonstrated financial need
